BMW Spruces Up the 2 Series for 2018
BMW has announced a handful of changes for the 2018 2 Series, which is available in coupe or convertible format, and as the 230i and the more powerful M240i. The performance-tuned BMW M2 continues, in coupe body style only.
Look closely and you’ll spot new LED headlights and taillights, as well as minor changes to the air inlets in the front bumper. The 2018 BMW 230i gets standard bi-color 17-in. aluminum wheels while the 2018 BMW M240i receives standard bi-color 18-in. aluminum wheels. Three new colors also debut: two new shades of blue and a new orange hue.
Inside, BMW says it has revised the car’s instrument panel while upgrading the materials. A new cover keeps the cupholders out of sight and a new Cognac leather color is available. Minor changes are made regarding the optional wood trims, too.
Perhaps the most significant change compared with 2017, when the 230i and M240i received new engines, is the addition of next-generation iDrive 6.0 technology. This is BMW’s latest infotainment system, which adds a touch-sensitive screen and natural voice-recognition technology. In standard specification, it includes a 6.6-in. display screen. Upgrade to the navigation system and the screen grows to 8.8 ins.
BMW’s ConnectedDrive services package expands for 2018. New features include a predictive on-street parking system that can tell the driver whether or not an open space is likely to be found in a given area. The navigation map display also depicts rain showers in the area, while the advanced real-time traffic information system now suggests alternate routes around traffic jams.
Widely considered to be one of the better driving modern BMWs, the 2018 2 Series coupe and convertible go on sale in July 2017.
