Bentley Debuts Bentayga Mulliner Ultra-Lux SUV in Geneva
Volkswagen Group’s British Bentley brand will unveil the Bentayga Mulliner premium SUV at the Geneva International Motor Show next week. Hand-crafted with “bespoke” or made-to-order features and ultimate power, this limo-like premium vehicle may be one of the fastest and highest-priced SUVs on the market. According to media reports, the MSRP will likely be in the $200,000 range for the new model that can be ordered from Bentley this spring.
The high-end version of Bentley’s Bentayga SUV will be produced in limited numbers by the UK-based in-house “personalizing” Mulliner coach-building division. Special treatments on the new model include optional two-tone paint. Chrome bumper grilles and body-colored lower fascia plus 22-in. Paragon 7-spoke wheels are standard.
The superior interior includes traditional and modern elements such as front and rear seats that are finished in different color leathers with contrast hand-stitching to reflect the two-tone exterior paint scheme. Mulliner adds a lit refrigerator cabinet and crystal flutes integrated with a rear console. Ombre Burr Walnut veneer paneling replaces the standard central console fascia, and mood lighting offers 15 colors and brightness levels for night ambience.
The new Mulliner SUV is equipped with noteworthy power: Bentley’s 6.0-liter W-12 engine that provides 608 horsepower (600 brake horsepower) and 663 lb.-ft. of torque. According to Bentley, the Bentayga Mulliner can reach a top speed of 187 mph and deliver 0-60 mph in 4 seconds.
Technology and entertainment components include a Naim audiophile 1,950-watt sound system with 20 speakers. A heating/cooling system that operates when the engine is off, and an electric window blind and double sun visor are available. A suite of driver-assistance systems includes park and lane assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic assist, night vision and head-up display, and a host of elite accessories from a picnic hamper to an esoteric and super expensive optional mechanical Mulliner Tourbilon Breitling clock with precision winding. A custom version of the new Bentayga Mulliner with hand-crafted inlays depicting the Monte Rosa range of the Alps will be on display at the Geneva auto show.
