2018 Nissan 370Z Heritage Edition Revealed at New York Auto Show

By Philly Murtha, April 05, 2017
Nissan will show off its 2018 370Z Coupe Heritage Edition next week at the New York International Auto Show. The commemorative Nissan Z compact sporty coupe variant comes in a choice of two colors: Chicane Yellow or Magnetic Black with special trim and custom graphics. The well-equipped 370Z will arrive in dealer showrooms this spring with appearance changes including refined exterior treatments and a high-performance Exedy manual-clutch transmission.

Nissan officials said the automaker is celebrating nearly 50 years since the sporty 240Z was first introduced to the U.S. market in 1969 under the original Datsun brand. In Japan, Nissan sold the car as the Fairlady Z. For U.S. racing buffs, one of the earlier Z sporty coupes—the 300ZX—scored an American Trans Am Series win in 1986 at the Lime Rock, CT, race track piloted by actor and competitive driver Paul Newman.

The Heritage Edition package for the 2018 370Z features new headlight and rear light treatments, a new rear fascia paint scheme, and smoke chrome door handles. The Chicane Yellow Heritage Edition variant features black side mirrors, graphics and yellow interior trim, while the Magnetic Black variant has gloss silver graphics with the yellow interior trim.

The 2018 Heritage Edition 370Z is powered by a standard 3.7-liter V-6 engine that produces 332 horsepower that partners with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission with downshift rev matching (DRM). According to Nissan officials, the automaker wants to inspire some excitement two years before the actual anniversary with a custom look for the 370Z, which was last redesigned for the 2009 model year. The current, sixth-generation 2017 Nissan 370Z base model has a suggested retail price of just under $30,000.
