2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Refresh Debuts in New York

Mitsubishi has updated its Outlander Sport small SUV for the 2018 model year with some fresh styling outside and inside. On display for the first time at the New York International Auto Show this week, the 2018 Outlander Sport that will arrive at dealership showrooms this fall includes enhanced features and optional advanced safety systems.

The new Outlander Sport features a fresher front end with new LED daytime running lights and new air intakes on either side of the prominent 2-bar grille. The rear bumper area now includes a skid plate and rear reflectors for off-road appeal. Two powertrains are offered and include a standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 148 horsepower and 145 lb.-ft. of torque and an available 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 168 horsepower and 167 lb.-ft. of torque.

2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport front quarter left photoThe cockpit now features a slightly larger 7-in. infotainment system display screen that includes full smartphone connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with an updated center floor console and shift lever.

Mitsubishi is also offering a new Touring option package that includes a panorama sunroof and new advanced safety and technology features. New driver-assistance systems include automatic high-beam headlights, forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, and a rear camera. Mitsubishi also says it has made improvements in noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) for a quieter ride and better handling as well. In addition, Mitsubishi will add a new exterior paint color, Alloy Silver, for the 2018 Outlander Sport.
