2014 Infiniti SUV Lineup Gets New Names, New Prices

By Jeff Youngs, July 25, 2013
Infiniti is changing the names for all of its cars and SUVs for the 2014 model year. The new car names start with "Q" and the new SUV names start with "QX." This past week, the luxury division of Nissan announced pricing for the QX lineup, and placed a $995 destination charge on all QX models.

Last year's EX37 is now called the Infiniti QX50. It is based on the previous-generation Infiniti G platform, and is equipped with a 325-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 engine. The Infiniti QX50 is sold with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive (RWD or AWD), in standard and Journey trim levels. The base price is $34,400, with the QX50 Journey priced at $36,750. All-wheel drive adds $1,400. Aside from the name change, this model receives no updates for 2014.

The new Infiniti QX60 is last year's JX35. It's a 3-row, 7-passenger crossover SUV based on the Nissan Pathfinder, equipped with a 265-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine, a continuously variable transmission, and front-wheel or all-wheel drive (FWD or AWD). Prices start at $41,550, with AWD available for another $1,400. For 2014, Infiniti makes several changes to the QX60, and will add a new QX60 Hybrid model later in the model year.

Previously known as the FX37 and FX50, the new 2014 Infiniti QX70 3.7 and QX70 5.0 carry into the new model year with only a name change. The QX70 3.7 has a 325-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 engine while the QX70 5.0 is equipped with a 390-horsepower, 5.0-liter V-8 engine. Prices start at $44,950 with rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is a $1,450 option for the QX70 3.7 and is standard for the QX70 5.0, which carries a base price of $61,500.

For 2014, the Infiniti QX56 becomes the QX80. A full-size SUV with traditional body-on-frame construction, the QX80 is equipped with a 400-horsepower, 5.6-liter V-8 engine and can tow up to 8,500 pounds. The base price for the RWD model is $61,350, while the QX80 AWD costs $64,450. For 2014, the QX80's optional Technology package adds a Backup Collision Intervention system.
