2014 Fiat 500c GQ Edition Aims to Appeal to Modern Men

By Jeff Youngs, August 21, 2013
Amid the excitement of this year's Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach, Calif., Fiat introduced another special-edition version of its Fiat 500 model at the Concorso Italiano, held in nearby Monterey. This time, the automaker partners with publisher Condé Nast to create a new GQ Edition of the 2014 Fiat 500c, the convertible version of the city car.

"The new Fiat 500c GQ Edition showcases the design talents of the Fiat brand and the inspiration of the style authority of GQ, to highlight how the brand continues to push the envelope when it comes to lifestyle partnerships with like-minded brands," said Jason Stoicevich, head of Fiat brand for North America, Chrysler Group LLC.

Lou Cona, president of the Condé Nast Media Group and chief revenue officer, Condé Nast, seemed equally pleased with the new Fiat 500c GQ Edition. "This partnership represents what Condé Nast does best--innovative and strategic custom solutions designed to engage our audience of super-influencers."

According to Fiat, the 500c GQ Edition will appeal to men with "athletic yet style-conscious lifestyles." It is equipped with the same 160-horsepower, turbocharged, 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine found in the performance-tuned 500c Abarth model, and is paired exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Together, these powertrain components produce acceleration to 60 mph in less than 7.5 seconds, says Fiat.

Offered with black, white, silver, or gray exterior paint, the 500c GQ Edition is also equipped with black 16-inch aluminum wheels in a unique split-spoke design with a red-accented center cap. Lighting elements feature a smoked appearance, and the GQ Edition includes bodywork elements inspired by the Abarth model.

Inside, this special-edition model is equipped with a black-and-white sport steering wheel, leather-wrapped instrumentation brow, satin chrome interior accents, and black leather sport seats with white stripes and Alcantara inserts. The driver's seat faces a 160-mph speedometer.

Fiat says the new 500c GQ Edition will go on sale in early 2014.
