2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop Adds Affordable Attitude

Dodge has announced a new version of the 2014 Dart in advance of the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The new Dodge Dart Blacktop is based on the Dart SXT trim level equipped with the Rallye Appearance Group and, in exchange for $295, installs Gloss Black 18-inch aluminum wheels and Gloss Black side mirror trim. The Dart Blacktop model's interior is also upgraded with a sportier theme featuring Ruby Red stripes and accents on Black or Light Tungsten cloth seats.

Otherwise, the new Dart Blacktop is equipped in identical fashion to the Dart SXT with the Rallye Appearance Group, and is offered with the same list of options that includes upgrades such as a premium audio system, navigation system, Uconnect infotainment system with an 8.4-inch color touch screen, power sunroof, among others. For 2014, the Dart SXT and Blacktop models come standard with a new 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine making 184 horsepower.

Small car buyers will want to note that the Dodge Dart is based on an Alfa Romeo platform, is rated a midsize car by the EPA, and receives a 5-star overall crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as well as a "Top Safety Pick" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). When the 2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop goes on sale in the first quarter of 2014, it will cost $20,280, including a destination charge of $995.
