2014 Cadenza Kicks it up a Notch for Kia

2014 Cadenza Kicks it up a Notch for Kia

By Jeff Youngs, January 24, 2013
At the 2013 North American International Auto Show, Kia introduced its new flagship sedan, the 2014 Cadenza. When the new Kia Cadenza goes on sale, it will slot in above the Kia Optima SX-L in the automaker's lineup as the company's full-size model.

Kia will sell the new Cadenza in a single level of specification and will offer two option packages for the vehicle. Highlights from the standard equipment list include leather seats, wood interior trim, ambient cabin lighting, navigation system, premium audio system, automatic climate control, passive entry with push-button ignition, and Bluetooth with a UVO smartphone integration system and eServices telematics technology. The Cadenza rides on 18-inch aluminum wheels and includes LED running lights, LED taillights, and LED turn signal indicators embedded into the side mirrors.

Choose the optional Premium package and the Cadenza is equipped with premium leather, heated front and rear seats, heated power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and a 12-way power driver's seat with ventilation and a thigh extension. Additionally, this package provides a power rear window shade, panoramic sunroof, adaptive front lighting system, and a Thin Film Transistor gauge display.

Additionally, the new 2014 Cadenza can be outfitted with a Technology package containing an advanced smart cruise control system, blind-spot detection system, lane-departure warning system, Back Up Warning system, and what Kia refers to as a water-repellant hydrophobic windshield. Onlookers can identify a Kia Cadenza equipped with the Technology package by its 19-inch Jet Turbine-design aluminum wheels.

The only powertrain choice is a direct-injection, 3.3-liter V-6 engine generating 293 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift gate delivers the power to the Cadenza's front wheels, and Kia says that the vehicle is equipped with a sport-tuned suspension.

The 2014 Kia Cadenza is scheduled to go on sale in the second quarter of 2013.
