Power 2015 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.SM The study ranked a total of four models in this segment, and the Dodge Challenger was deemed the most appealing of the quartet, according to the people who own them.
For 2016, Ford expands the Mustang lineup with the addition of the high-performance Shelby GT350 and GT350R models. Additionally, a new Sync 3 infotainment system debuts, along with new colors, stripes, and appearance packages.

Who Buys the Ford Mustang?
Given that there are only four rank-eligible models in the Midsize Sporty Car segment in the 2015 U.S. APEAL Study, it comes as no surprise that Mustang buyers are similar to those of the Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger, and Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
A slightly higher proportion of men buy the Mustang (79% vs. 77% for the segment); they are slightly older (50 years vs. 49); and they enjoy slightly higher median annual household incomes ($100,947 vs. $95,947).
In terms of other psychographics related to the Mustang, it deviates from the segment norm only in terms of the number of purchasers who identify themselves as performance buyers. According to J.D. Power research data, 40% of Mustang buyers do so, compared with 35% of all Midsize Sporty Car buyers.
What Do Buyers Most Like about the Mustang?
