    BMW 2017 Model Overview

    For the 2017 model year, BMW debuts a completely redesigned 5 Series sedan and cancels the slow-selling Z4 sports car. Several model series receive new turbocharged 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines as well as naming convention changes, and next-generation iDrive 5.0 technology expands into nearly all BMW models.

    2017 BMW 2 Series/M2

    • New engines result in 230i and M240i nomenclature
    • 230i has a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine
    • M240i has a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine
    • Next-generation iDrive 5.0 infotainment system offered in conjunction with navigation
    • Available wireless device charging, Wi-Fi hotspot, enhanced USB and Bluetooth system
    • Park Distance Control upgraded to include automatic surround PDC function
    • M2 offered with M Driver’s package including driving training at BMW Performance Center and increased top speed for the vehicle

    2017 BMW 3 Series/M3

    • New turbocharged 4-cylinder engine transforms 328i into the 330i
    • 330e, 330i, and 328d model lines get matte chrome exterior trim
    • 330e gains additional visual cues signaling its “green” credentials
    • 340i has standard M Sport package with stiffer suspension
    • Sport Line and Luxury Line appearance packages are now called the Sport package and Luxury package
    • Vehicles with navigation are upgraded to next-generation iDrive 5.0 infotainment system
    • Available wireless device charging, Wi-Fi hotspot, enhanced USB and Bluetooth system
    • M3 equipped with standard Adaptive M suspension

    • New Artic Gray and Jatoba Brown exterior paint colors

    • More standard equipment, including Sport Line exterior trim and next-generation iDrive infotainment system with touch-screen and gesture-control functionality
    • Options include comfort upgrades, improved semi-autonomous driving-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies, high-end audio and entertainment systems, and expanded BMW Connected service capabilities
    • Available fully autonomous Parking Assistant and Remote Controlled Parking systems
