New for 2016: Scion

Initially imagined as a youth-oriented sub-brand for Toyota Motor Corp., Scion has instead drawn the relatively limited interest of buyers young and not-so-young with products ranging from the fairly sporty tC to the funky yet utilitarian xB. After a long run, the latter has been discontinued for 2016, though the tC hatchback returns with a few minor updates, along with its more aggressively styled and tuned sibling, the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) FR-S. Joining the lineup are the all-new 2016 iA, a small sedan sourced from Mazda that, in typical Scion fashion, is available in a single trim level, and the iM, a 5-door hatch highlighted by a standard body kit, a host of standard features, and a punchy 137-horsepower 4-cylinder engine.

  • 106-horsepower, 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine
  • EPA-rated to achieve up to 42 mpg on the highway
  • Front-wheel drive (FWD)
  • Standard 7-in. touch-screen audio system with voice recognition and rearview camera
  • 6 air bags

  • All-new, 5-passenger small hatchback
  • 137-horspower, 1.8-liter 4-cyinder engine
  • 6-speed manual or continuously variable transmission
  • 17-in. alloy wheels
  • Standard body kit, turn-signal mirrors, touch-screen Pioneer sound system, rearview camera, and sport bucket seats
  • Bluetooth connectivity and streaming audio
  • 8 air bags
  • EPA-rated to achieve up to 37 mpg on the highway
