New for 2016: Ford Trucks, SUVs, and Vans

Ford trucks, SUVs, and vans won’t change dramatically for the 2016 model year. On most models, the Sync 3 infotainment system will be optionally available to replace the MyFord Touch system. The Ford truck with the most significant changes appears to be the 2016 Ford F-150 pickup, which will now offer luxe-to-the-max Limited and Special Appearance packages. Ford SuperDuty trucks will offer the Power Stroke turbodiesel 6.7-liter V-8 engine as an option.

Following is a list of new or updated features for each 2016 Ford truck, SUV, and van model:



2016 Ford Edge photo2016 Ford Edge

  • Adaptive steering standard on Sport, optional on Titanium
  • Sync 3 infotainment system replaces MyFord Touch




2016 Ford Escape Titanium photo2016 Ford Escape

  • Sync 3 infotainment system replaces MyFord Touch
  • Two new exterior paint colors: Shadow Black and Electric Spice. Tuxedo Black Metallic and Karat Gold have been discontinued.
  • Acoustic laminated front-door side glass is now standard on Escape SE
  • Chrome Appearance package is now optional on Escape SE, including chrome exterior trim and partial leather sport-style V-shaped seats
  • Leather-Comfort package is also available on the SE and includes leather seats, heated power side mirrors, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and one-touch windows
  • SE Convenience package includes Sync 3, an 8-in. touch screen, 9 speakers, media hub, reverse-sensing system, perimeter alarm, and black roof side rails

  • Sync 3 infotainment system replaces MyFord Touch
  • Offered in eight body/trim combinations: XLT, Limited, Platinum, Limited EL, King Ranch EL, King Ranch, XLT EL, and Platinum EL
  • Otherwise unchanged following late changes in 2015 model

  • New Platinum trim level offers higher-quality upholstery, plus various safety and convenience features, as well as moonroof and voice-activated navigation
  • Suspension has been adjusted for greater comfort
  • Automated parking system works on 90-degree-angle parking as well as parallel
  • Optional 280-horsepower, 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine produces 310 lb.-ft. of torque and can be paired with all-wheel drive. New engine can tow up to 3,000 lbs.
  • New LED headlights and redesigned grille, as well as hands-free liftgate
  • Interior features more USB ports and an optional improved MyFord Touch system




2016 Ford F-150 Limited photo2016 Ford F-150

  • New exterior colors are Shadow Black and Lithium Gray; Tuxedo Black and Guard Metallic have been eliminated
  • Special Edition Appearance package for XLT and Lariat adds distinctive 20-in. wheels, black-painted running boards, dark grille, tinted headlights, side stripes, and Alcantara seats with red bolsters. Interior leather is accented with red stitching.
  • Optional Pro Trailer Backup Assist system allows remote direction of the trailer
  • Natural Gas Prep package is available
  • Sync 3 infotainment interface replaces MyFord Touch and includes an updated screen
  • Special Edition appearance package of options includes special badging on the hood, distinctive wheels, satin grille finish, satin door/tailgate handles, and leather front and rear seats. Front and rear seats are heated; front seats are cooled, power adjustable and massaging.

  • Optional LED warning strobe lights
  • New optional rapid-heat supplemental cab heater is standard in cold-weather states
  • Standard engine is a 6.2-liter V-8 that cranks up to 385 horsepower and 405 lb.-ft. of torque; optional is a Power Stroke turbodiesel 6.7-liter V-8 that makes 440 horsepower and produces 860 lb.-ft. of torque




2016 Ford Flex Limited photo2016 Ford Flex

  • First-ever Flex Appearance package features black door handles, window sills, roof, liftgate appliqué and grille, along with standard 20-in. rims
  • Optional automatic xenon front headlamps and LED rear lights; fog lights are also optional
  • New lineup of wheels, ranging from 17 to 20 in.
  • Standard engine is 287-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 254 lb.-ft. of torque. Twin-turbo EcoBoost version of the same engine is optional.
  • New colors include Shadow Black, Too Good to Be Blue, and Kona Blue

  • New colors include Shadow Black, Magnetic (dark grey), Race Red, and Caribou (brown)
  • Sync 3 infotainment system is available to replace MyFord Touch
  • Backup camera is now standard
  • Dual sliding side doors are available
  • Map lights are standard
  • A CNG/propane gaseous engine prep package is available for the 3.7-liter V-6 engine

  • E85 flex-fuel system is standard with the 2.5-liter engine destined for non-California emissions states
  • Sync combines with MyFord Touch, Ford’s voice-activated mobile communications and entertainment system

  • Available 17-in. premium alloy wheels
  • Available BLIS (blind-spot information system) with cross-traffic alert
  • Shadow Black replaces Panther Black
  • Standard second-row fold-flat bucket seats for Titanium
  • Available 6-way power driver’s seat on XLT
  • Perimeter anti-theft alarm system now included with remote start option
