New for 2016: Ford Cars

The only members of the Ford lineup of cars to get noticeable revisions for the 2016 model year are the Mustang and the Taurus. The 2016 Mustang will go with a retro look that pays tribute to the 1967 model, and various option packages will enhance the nostalgic feel of the classic “pony car.” The 2016 Ford Taurus gets a new, lighter chassis that’s likely to improve its handling, although Ford remains silent on engine choices. Several models will be offering Ford’s new Sync 3 infotainment system either as an option or as standard equipment.

Following is an overview of new or updated features for each 2016 Ford car model:

2016 Ford C-Max
  • New exterior colors: Tectonic (metallic tan), Magnetic (dark grey), Ruby Red, White Platinum, Oxford White, Black, Silver, Kona Blue
  • Sync 3 tech interface includes improved voice recognition and a more responsive 8-in. touch screen
  • SE trim level offers sport body kit and Black appearance package
  • Remote keyless entry and alarm now standard on S trim
  • New colors include Shadow Black, Kona Blue, Magnetic, and White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat
  • All-new Focus RS will be introduced to U.S. markets in spring 2016
  • Focus RS will introduce Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring, as well as industry-first drift mode
  • Focus RS will feature Ford’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that’s expected to produce 350 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque
  • New Focus RS styling includes an aggressive front end with bold trapezoidal grille above the front splitter/brake cooling ducts and vertically mounted fog lamps emphasize the vehicle’s wide stance
  • Focus RS interior features heavily bolstered Recaro sports seats, flat-bottomed steering wheel with soft-feel, leather-covered rim, and distinctive RS badging
  • Non-Focus RS information has yet to be released for the 2016 model year
  • Redesigned center stack offers a simplified user experience with Sync screen and mechanical buttons
  • New S Appearance package includes 18-in. alloy painted Ebony black wheels, front fog lamps, and rear spoiler.
  • New SE Cold Weather package offers Power Code Remote Start System, heated cloth seats, and all-weather floor mats
  • California Special package, exclusive to the Mustang GT Premium, revives ‘60s-style options including 19-in. black-painted wheels, leather interior with red contrast stitching, California Special badge on the aluminum dash, rear spoiler, front splitter, racing stripes, special grille, and black mirrors and hood vents
  • Black Accent package on fastback and convertible body styles features 19-in. wheels, black rear spoiler, and other touches of black
  • Pony package adds 19-in. polished aluminum wheels, distinctive grille, side stripes, and chrome window surrounds, and 3-bar pony logo on the grille
  • Sync 3 system is included with the Premium package
  • Mustang GT features 1967-style hood-vent-integrated turn signals
  • Three new exterior colors: Shadow Black, Blue Jeans, and Guard
  • Taurus SHO will add Absolute Black, Blue Jeans, and Guard exterior colors
  • Edition for Chinese market recently previewed may foretell future changes for U.S. market.
