By Joseph Dobrian, May 19, 2016
Nissan’s compact Sentra sedan has been considerably upgraded for the 2016 model year, with revised exterior styling, refreshed interior, and added content. The exterior redesign brings the Sentra closer in look and feel to the new 2016 Maxima and redesigned 2016 Altima. The 2016 Nissan Sentra is offered in six trim levels: S 6MT, S Xtronic, FE+ S, SV, SR, and SL.

Here are five more facts about the 2016 Nissan Sentra:

1) Key exterior features of the new Sentra include a new front and rear fascia, grille, fenders, and hood; signature boomerang-shaped headlights and taillights; and a new 17-in. aluminum-alloy wheel design. Sentra SR and SL trims add new LED low-beam projector headlights with LED signature accents.
2) Inside, the revised Sentra interior features a new steering wheel, new available power driver’s seat with power lumbar, new center cluster and audio display design, new console and shifter knob, and refined seat fabrics. The instrument panel offers a new TFT-type (Thin Film Transistor) LCD flat-panel display with higher resolution than previous LCD screens. Sentra SV, SR, and SL trims include a 5.0-in. Advanced Drive-Assist Display. These trims also include Siri Eyes Free Voice Recognition as standard equipment.
3) Available technology includes NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM, adaptive cruise control, forward emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Other available features range from a dual-zone automatic climate control to a Bose premium audio system with 8 speakers, keyless entry, push-button ignition system, and a reversing camera.
4) According to Nissan, the 2016 Sentra delivers enhanced performance and handling through a retuned suspension design featuring a 10% increase in spring and damper rates, as well as enhanced body stiffness for improved roll and body control. The D-Step Logic Control provides a more stable, natural and crisper shift feel, the automaker says.
5) All 2016 Sentras feature a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine mated with an advanced Xtronic continuously variable transmission with sub-planetary gear. A 6-speed manual transmission is also available with the S trim.
