Highlights From the 2015 Detroit Auto Show
By Jeff Youngs, January 21, 2015
While Detroit may not be the first destination one thinks of when looking for a world-class show or a few days surrounded by opulence and luxury, that's exactly what attendees at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) enjoyed this week. Granted, there was no shortage of exciting truck and alternative-powered vehicle announcements, and Ford had tongues wagging with its performance models, but a surprising number of newsworthy debuts also came from the likes of Alfa Romeo, Cadillac, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and Infiniti.
2016 Acura NSX
After years of anticipation--and the previous debut of a similar concept car--the Acura NSX returns to the company's lineup as a 2016 model, with sales starting during the summer of 2015. At the heart of this lightweight all-wheel-drive (AWD) supercar is a hybrid powertrain consisting of a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine, 9-speed dual-clutch transmission, 3 electric motors, and a battery pack.

2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider
Scheduled to arrive in U.S. showrooms later this year, the 2016 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is essentially a 4C coupe with a removable targa roof over the 2-passenger seating compartment. Charged with moving this lightweight sports car is a 237-horsepower 4-cylinder engine that Alfa claims contributes to a 0-60 mph time of just 4.1 seconds.
2016 Buick Cascada
Buick has been gradually expanding its model lineup in recent years, and now goes one step further with the debut of the 2016 Cascada. The first soft-top convertible to wear a Buick badge in more than two decades, this 4-passenger model features a 200-horsepower, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and will go on sale in early 2016.

2016 Cadillac CTS-V
When the Cadillac CTS-V first debuted it combined luxury with 400 eager horsepower. Fast forward to the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, where the covers came off of the 2016 CTS-V, now sporting a supercharged, 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 640 horsepower and 630 lb.-ft. of torque. Cadillac claims this latest iteration can hit 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

Chevrolet Bolt Concept
One of the biggest obstacles for most electric vehicles has been a lack of range, or distance they can travel on a full charge. Chevrolet suggests its 4-passenger Bolt concept car serves a solution, offering a 200-mile range that would make it suitable for more than relatively short daily commutes.
2016 Chevrolet Volt
The second-generation Chevrolet Volt hit the stage at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, where the world got a look at its sleeker styling, 5-passenger interior, and updated powertrain engineered to deliver improved performance, greater overall efficiency, and an electric-only range of 50 miles. For longer trips that require the use of the 2016 Volt's 1.5-liter gasoline-powered generator, Chevy estimates fuel economy will average 41 mpg.

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
Ford grabbed headlines and the attention of tough-truck loving man, woman and child with the launch of its first F-150 Raptor, which will soon be replaced by a new Raptor based on the completely redesigned 2015 F-150. Due to go on sale in late 2016, the 2017 Ford Raptor features aluminum body panels, turbocharged EcoBoost engine mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and a significantly upgraded chassis.
2017 Ford GT
Ford is rejoining the supercar ranks with the introduction of the all-new 2017 GT, a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model fitted with a 3.5-liter, EcoBoost V-6 engine generating what Ford claims to be more than 600 horsepower, and extensive use of aluminum and carbon fiber. Sales start in 2016.
2016 Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang
Hot on the heels of the recently debuted GT350 comes the 2016 Shelby GT350R Mustang, or what Ford touts as the "most race-ready road-legal Mustang ever." Among the GT350R's highlights are standard carbon fiber wheels, track-tuned and lowered chassis with MagneRide shocks, and, in the name of weight savings, the deletion of audio and air conditioning systems, rear seats, and exhaust resonators.
2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid
One year after the debut of the all-new Sonata sedan, Hyundai has pulled the wraps off of its Sonata Hybrid and Sonata Hybrid plug-in models. Differentiated by subtle design changes, such as a unique grille and specific alloy wheels, these fuel-sipping sedans use a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine bundled with an electric motor and battery pack. A larger battery allows the 2016 Sonata Plug-in Hybrid to travel a manufacturer-estimated 22 miles on just electric power.

While some concept cars are merely design exercises that will never again see the light of day, the Q60 you see here offers a glimpse at the next-generation production model that's due to arrive in 2016. The 2-door, 4-passenger coupe is expected to be powered by a direct-injection, twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter V-6 engine.
2016 Lexus GS F

2016 Nissan Titan
After a decade of languishing in last place as a not-quite-full-size pickup in a market full of hot-selling F-150s, Silverados and Rams (not to mention the Toyota Tundra), Nissan has finally overhauled its Titan pickup for the 2016 model year. With styling that might have you thinking F-150, the all-new 2016 Titan will be available with V-6 and V-8 gas engines, as well as a Cummins turbo-diesel. Nissan claims its full-size truck will tow up to 12,000 lbs. and accommodate a 2,000-lb. payload when properly equipped.

To warrant the Rebel badge, Ram upfitted its 1500 with a lift kit, skid plates, unique 17-in. alloy wheels wrapped in 33-in. all-terrain tires, and vinyl upholstery with an integrated tire tread pattern. Buyers have their choice of RWD or 4-wheel-drive and either a 3.6-liter V-6 or 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine.
