By Jeff Youngs, December 03, 2012
Numerous new 2013 and 2014 models debuted at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, which is open to the public between November 30 and December 9 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown L.A. Among the models on display, be sure to see these 20 important new models:

2014 Acura RLX
The redesigned 2014 Acura RLX replaces the 2012 Acura RL as the flagship sedan in the Acura lineup. Equipped at launch with a 310-horsepower V-6 engine and front-wheel drive, the new luxury sedan will be offered as a Sport Hybrid SH-AWD model starting next summer.

Highlights of the new 2014 RLX include aerodynamic styling, Jewel Eye LED headlights, additional rear-seat room, and an optional Krell Audio high-fidelity sound system. The new RLX is also offered with cloud-based AcuraLink telematics services, several new safety technologies, and new Acura Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) technology.

2014 Audi 3.0 TDI Models
Audi is expanding the number of TDI Clean Diesel models it offers, starting with the 2014 model year. The A6, A7, A8, and Q5 will each offer a clean-burning 3.0-liter turbo-diesel 6-cylinder engine as an option, and will wear a "3.0 TDI" badge when so equipped.

Audi says the new 3.0 TDI engine will generate 240 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque, and provide 24 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. According to Audi, the 3.0 TDI models will deliver a 30% increase in fuel economy over an equivalent gasoline engine when they go on sale, starting with the A8 in the spring of 2013.

2014 Chevrolet Spark EV
The 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV goes on sale in California next summer. The electric car is equipped with a 20 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack that can be recharged in 7 hours using a 240-volt power outlet, according to Chevrolet. Charging time will take longer with a standard household 120-volt electrical outlet.

Providing 130 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, according to Chevrolet, the Spark EV is expected to accelerate to 60 mph in less than 8 seconds. Final range and EPA MPGe estimates will be available closer to the car's on-sale date.

2013 Fiat 500e
The 2013 Fiat 500e is a new electric version of the standard Fiat 500, equipped with a 24 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack that recharges in 24 hours using a standard 120-volt household outlet, or in 4 hours using a Level 2 240-volt quick-charger. Horsepower measures 111, torque measures 147 lb.-ft., and Fiat says the 500e offers an estimated 80-mile range and projected 116 MPGe EPA estimate.

Like other Fiat 500 models, the new 500e variant will be offered in numerous exterior paint and interior color schemes, and is equipped with many standard features.

2014 Fiat 500L
The 2014 Fiat 500L is a new 5-passenger multi-purpose model offering 42% more interior space than a standard Fiat 500, including 26.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat.

The new Fiat 500L is equipped with a turbocharged, 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and a choice between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed Dual Dry-Clutch Transmission (DDCT). Pop, Easy, Lounge, and crossover-themed Trekking trim levels are available, as well as Uconnect 5.0 or 6.5 infotainment systems and a panoramic sunroof.

2014 Ford Fiesta
For 2014, the Ford Fiesta receives a mid-life upgrade including revised styling, new turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, advanced technologies, and a performance-tuned ST variant that delivers nearly as much horsepower and more torque than a Volkswagen GTI (and more than a Mini Cooper S).

The new 1.0-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine generates 123 horsepower and 148 lb.-ft. of torque, more than the standard 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. The Fiesta ST has a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine generating 197 horsepower and 214 lb.-ft. of torque, as well as suspension, steering and braking system modifications.

2014 Ford Transit Connect Wagon
The redesigned 2014 Ford Transit Connect is a commercial cargo van, and this new Wagon version is outfitted to carry up to 7 passengers in a roomy vehicle with a relatively small footprint.

A 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard, with a turbocharged, 1.6-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine optional. Trim levels include XL, XLT and Titanium, with the loaded version equipped with leather, Sync connectivity with 9-1-1 Assist, MyFord Touch infotainment, navigation system, panoramic sunroof, and more.

2013 Honda Civic
Honda redesigned the Civic for 2012, but gives the car significant upgrades for 2013, including a modified structure employing high-strength steel, new safety features, additional standard equipment, and an upgraded interior with soft-touch surfaces. The Civic Sedan model also receives new styling, while all variants benefit from steering and suspension upgrades, as well as measures taken to quiet the cabin while driving on the highway.

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe
The 5-passenger version of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is already on sale. At the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, Hyundai formally unveiled the long-wheelbase Santa Fe model, which is equipped with a 292-horsepower, 3.3-liter V-6 engine and seating for 7 passengers.

Highlights include a standard 1-year subscription to Blue Link telematics service, optional all-wheel-drive system with torque-vectoring technology, and an optional blind-spot monitoring system. The new 2013 Santa Fe replaces the Veracruz in Hyundai's crossover SUV lineup, and goes on sale after the first of the year.

2014 Jaguar F-Type
The first 2-seat Jaguar since the legendary E-Type, the new 2014 Jaguar F-Type is a roadster priced from just under $70,000. Three different engines are offered, ranging from a 340-horsepower, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 to a 495-horsepower, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. The roof folds down in 12 seconds, 60 mph arrives in as little as 4.2 seconds, and top speed is as high as 186 mph (depending on model selected), according to Jaguar.

2014 Kia Forte
Kia has redesigned its compact sedan for 2014. The new Kia Forte replaces the current Forte lineup of coupe, hatchback and sedan with a 4-door compact car that has the latest Kia styling themes, yet also has features uncommon for its vehicle class.

For example, the Forte EX trim level can be optioned with a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and a 10-way power driver's seat with ventilation--features typically reserved for premium brands. Buyers choose between a 148-horsepower, 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine in the LX trim and a 173-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder in the EX version. Idle Stop & Go technology is optional for LX models, while the EX version can be equipped with Flex Steer settings providing Comfort, Normal or Sport effort levels.

2014 Kia Sorento
The new 2014 Kia Sorento might look similar to the 2013 model, but under the skin Kia claims 80% of the SUV is either new or redesigned.

Styling is modified on the outside, and includes LED running lights, LED taillights, and redesigned aluminum wheels. Inside, the crossover gets a new dashboard with a Thin Film Transistor gauge screen and a larger infotainment screen, with new optional connectivity, safety and comfort features. A new top-of-the-line Sorento SX Limited (SXL) trim level also debuts for 2014, with premium interior materials, xenon headlights, and 19-inch aluminum wheels.

2013 Land Rover Range Rover
The new Land Rover Range Rover made its official North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, in both standard and supercharged format. Key highlights of the redesigned luxury SUV include aluminum construction resulting in a 700-pound weight reduction, a new version of Terrain Response technology, added rear-seat leg room, and what Land Rover says is improved on- and off-road driving dynamics.

2014 Mazda 6
Mazda introduced the new 2014 Mazda 6 several months ago, but announced a new powertrain option for the redesigned family sedan at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. In addition to its 184-horsepower, 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G 4-cylinder engine, the 2014 Mazda 6 will be offered with a 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D clean-diesel engine option. Power figures are not finalized, but the clean diesel engine is expected to produce more torque than the standard engine.

Additionally, the new Mazda 6 will have a standard i-ELOOP brake energy regeneration system, and Smart City Brake Support Technology will be optional. The new 2014 Mazda 6 arrives at dealerships in January 2013.

2014 Mini Paceman
Take one Mini Countryman, remove the rear doors, redesign the roof and the rear end, and you've got the new 2014 Mini Paceman, a tall-riding 3-door hatchback that seats 4 passengers. When it goes on sale in the fall of 2013, the model will be offered in Paceman, turbocharged Paceman S, and all-wheel-drive Paceman ALL4 trim levels. Mini says it is also preparing a performance-tuned Paceman John Cooper Works model, to be introduced at a later date.

2014 Mitsubishi Outlander
The 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander, a compact crossover SUV, now offers seating for up to 7 passengers thanks to its third-row seat. Mitsubishi says the new Outlander is lighter and more aerodynamic than the model it replaces, and depending on the trim selected, the Outlander can be equipped with new features such as adaptive cruise control, forward-collision mitigation system, and a lane-departure warning system.

Buyers can choose between ES, SE and GT trim levels, the latter equipped with a V-6 engine instead of the standard 2.4-liter 4-cylinder power plant. A Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel-drive system is standard on the GT trim. The new Outlander will also be offered as a plug-in hybrid vehicle after the crossover SUV's initial arrival in showrooms.

2014 Porsche Cayman
Taking its cues from the redesigned 2013 Boxster roadster, the new 2014 Porsche Cayman is a 2-seat, mid-engine sports car with a fixed roof and a 15-cubic-foot rear trunk. It goes on sale in the spring of 2013 for $52,600.

Cayman and Cayman S models will be offered, the latter adding a more powerful 325-horsepower engine and larger standard wheels. Properly equipped, the new 2014 Cayman will accelerate to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, reach a top speed of 175 mph, and get up to 32 mpg on the highway, according to Porsche.

2014 Subaru Forester
For 2014, the Subaru Forester is completely redesigned, adding more rear-seat room, more cargo room, more powerful turbocharged engine option, and fuel economy that reaches an estimated 32 mpg on the highway.

Buyers can choose between a Forester 2.5i and a turbocharged Forester 2.0XT, the latter generating 250 altitude-impervious horsepower. Every 2014 Forester offers 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and models without the optional power sunroof can carry up to 74.7 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seat folded down. New safety features include Subaru EyeSight, a camera-based package of safety technologies.

2013 Toyota RAV4
The 2013 Toyota RAV4 is completely redesigned, and although it is no longer offered with a V-6 engine, Sport trim level, or an optional third-row seat, it does have more interior space and a new rear liftgate unencumbered by a spare tire. The new RAV4 will be offered in LE, XLE and Limited trim levels for 2013.

Additional upgrades for the 2013 RAV4 include a new 6-speed automatic transmission, better fuel economy, and a new optional Dynamic Torque Control all-wheel-drive system with Auto, Lock and Sport modes. A blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert is optional for 2013.

2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible
The new 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible makes its official debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, equipped with 4-passenger seating and a soft fabric convertible top that drops in about 10 seconds, according to VW.

The new 2013 Beetle Convertible is offered with the standard 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine, optional turbocharged 2.0-liter Clean Diesel engine, or an optional 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.
