The Suzuki Equator is the Japanese automaker's small pickup truck. It's a more traditional-looking version of the Nissan Frontier, and is available with 2- or 4-wheel drive (2WD or 4WD) depending on the trim. The 2011 model is mainly a carryover from the previous year, but the trim levels have been consolidated somewhat.

The 2011 Suzuki Equator comes in five trims, with either an extended cab or a crew cab. The base trim is a stripper: even air conditioning and a sound system require stepping up to the Comfort trim. The Premium trim includes some power accessories, keyless entry, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, and 16-inch wheels. The Sport trim features 17-inch wheels and an upgraded pickup bed. The 4WD RMZ trim reverts to 16-inch wheels but features performance enhancements such as an electric locking rear differential, heavier-duty axles, skid plates, upgraded shocks and tires, and hill-hold and hill-descent controls. A navigation system is optional with the RMZ crew cab. Crew-cab models feature a 60-inch bed, except for the Sport, which offers an optional 72-inch bed. Extended-cab models feature a 72-inch bed. Maximum payload is 1471 pounds, and with proper equipment, the Equator can tow 6300 pounds, according to Suzuki.

The 2011 Suzuki Equator Sport is available in 2WD or 4WD; the RMZ is 4WD only. All 2WD, extended-cab models employ a 152-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. Models with 4WD and/or the crew cab feature a 261-horsepower, 4.0-liter V-6 engine that delivers 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.

Standard safety features on the 2011 Suzuki Equator include anti-lock brakes, front side air bags, and side curtain air bags. The V-6 engine comes with stability control, and traction control is provided with the Sport trim. In government crash tests, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the Equator 4 (out of 5) stars for front-impact protection and 5 stars for side-impact protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Equator highest-possible \"Good\" ratings in frontal-offset tests.
