The Suzuki Equator is a traditional midsize pickup truck sharing a platform and mechanicals with the Nissan Frontier (the Japanese automaker assembles the Equator for Suzuki). Suzuki offers the Equator in both crew cab and extended cab body styles with 4- or 6-cylinder engines. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with 4-wheel drive optional. The Suzuki Equator is a carryover for 2010.

The Suzuki Equator, a midsize pickup truck that shares its platform with the Nissan Frontier, made its bow in the 2009 model year and carries over to 2010 unchanged, except for some new standard features. It is available with 2- or 4-wheel drive (2WD or 4WD), depending on the trim.

The 2010 Suzuki Equator offers five trim levels, with either an extended cab or a crew cab. The base trim is spartanly equipped: even air conditioning and a sound system require stepping up to the Comfort trim. The Equator Premium trim includes some power accessories, keyless entry, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, and 16-inch wheels. The Equator Sport trim features 17-inch wheels and an upgraded pickup bed. The 4WD Equator RMZ trim reverts to 16-inch wheels but features performance enhancements such as an electric locking rear differential, heavier-duty axles, skid plates, upgraded shocks and tires, and hill-hold and hill-descent controls. A navigation system is optional with the Equator RMZ crew cab.

Equator crew cab models feature a 60-inch bed, except for the Sport, which offers an optional 72-inch bed. Extended cab Equator models feature a 72-inch bed exclusively. Maximum payload for the 2010 Suzuki Equator is 986 pounds, and with proper equipment, the pickup can tow 3500 pounds, according to Suzuki.

The 2010 Suzuki Equator Sport is available in 2WD or 4WD; the Equator RMZ is 4WD only. All 2WD, extended cab Equator models employ a 152-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. Equator models with 4WD and/or the crew cab feature a 261-horsepower, 4.0-liter V-6 engine that delivers 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.

Standard safety features on the 2010 Suzuki Equator include anti-lock brakes, front side air bags, and side curtain air bags. Equator models with the V-6 engine come with stability control, and traction control is provided with the Sport trim. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Equator the highest-possible \"Good\" rating in its frontal-offset test, and in government crash tests, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the Equator 4 out of 5 stars for front-impact protection and 5 stars for side-impact protection.

Starting MSRPs for the 2010 Suzuki Equator ranged from $17,250 to $28,850.
