Models and Features
Chevrolet sells the 2014 Spark in LS and LT trim levels. The Spark EV is covered in a separate overview.

Standard equipment for the Spark LS includes air conditioning, power windows, a tilt steering wheel, 4-speaker stereo with an auxiliary audio input jack, automatic headlights, ambient cabin lighting, trip computer, and 15-inch aluminum wheels. OnStar telematics service is also standard, and includes 6 months of free service.

The Spark LT adds power door locks with remote keyless entry, power side mirrors, cruise control, floor mats, additional stereo speakers, outside temperature display, and a steering wheel with radio and Bluetooth connection controls. A Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with a 7-inch color touch screen, voice-recognition technology, and Bluetooth streaming audio capability are also included for the LT trim level, along with satellite radio, a USB port, and one free year of access to Siri Eyes Free and TuneIn global radio service. A BringGo navigation app for the MyLink system costs $60, and includes Google Local Search.

A 2LT package adds leatherette seats, heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors with turn signal indicators, leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog lights, and upgraded exterior trim to the Spark LT.

Options and Packages
Chevrolet dealers install options for the 2014 Spark. New items include a sporty Z-Spec grille and floor mats, a front fog light kit, cross rails for the available roof rack, and new interior trim kits in various colors. Additionally, the Spark is available with all-weather mats for the floor and cargo area, a sport pedal kit, and more.

Under the Hood
The 2014 Spark is equipped with a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder engine making 84 horsepower. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard, and a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) is optional, replacing the previous 4-speed automatic. All Sparks are front-wheel drive, and include standard hill-start assist.

Fuel Economy
As this overview is written, official EPA fuel-economy ratings are unavailable for the 2014 Spark. Chevrolet claims the new CVT adds 2 mpg to both the city and highway ratings, for a total of 30 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway.

Safety Ratings and Technology
Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has performed crash tests on the 2014 Spark as this article is written.

Standard safety equipment includes 10 standard air bags, a stability and traction control system, and anti-lock brakes with brake assist. The OnStar system includes Automatic Crash Response, which activates if the car's air bags deploy and puts vehicle occupants in touch with a live operator who can help speed rescue assistance. OnStar's opt-in FamilyLink service provides vehicle location alerts and the ability to check the Spark's location online.
