The Audi Q5 is a compact crossover that joined the automaker's lineup for the 2009 model year. Smaller than the seven-passenger Q7, the five-passenger Q5 competes against the BMW X3. New for 2011 is the base model's turbocharged four-cylinder engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. Combined, they offer more power, improved acceleration, and improved fuel economy compared to the outgoing powertrain. The upscale 3.2 model receives standard S line trim, 19-inch wheels, and other upgrades.

The Q5 is offered in four different trims. The standard Q5 2.0T Premium is fitted with a four-cylinder engine, leather upholstery, twelve-way power front seats, three-zone climate control, full power accessories, 18-inch alloy wheels, and more. The Q5 2.0T Premium Plus adds items such as a panorama sunroof, power tailgate, xenon headlamps, and Bluetooth phone connectivity. The Q5 3.2 Premium Plus is configured with a six-cylinder engine and S line exterior package, which includes unique fascias, cladding, and more. The range-topping Q5 3.2 Prestige adds equipment such as navigation, Bang & Olufsen audio system, and a rearview camera.

Audi offers two engine choices. The 2.0T models are fitted with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is rated at 211 horsepower. The 3.2 models receive a 3.2-liter, six-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a new eight-speed transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with Audi's \"Quattro\" full-time all-wheel drive-designed to improve traction during inclement weather-as an option. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Audi Q5 between 18 mpg city, and 27 mpg highway, depending on driveline.

The 2011 Audi 2.0T Premium starts with a base price of about $35,500 and tops out with the 3.2 Prestige model, which starts around $50,000.
