Predicted Reliability – The Jaguar XF debuted in 2009, and is too new to have been included in the J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), which measures owner satisfaction with a vehicle’s reliability after three years of ownership. Based on the historical performance of Jaguar models in our Initial Quality Study and our Vehicle Dependability Study, the 2010 XF receives a predicted reliability rating of 3 out of 5 Power Circle Ratings.

Fuel Economy – The 2010 Jaguar XF is equipped with one of three engines. Regardless of engine selection – 4.2-liter V-8, 5.0-liter V-8, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 – fuel economy falls within a narrow range between 15 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, with the smallest engine the most fuel efficient and the supercharged engine the least fuel efficient.

Our review vehicle, the XF Premium with the normally-aspirated V-8, is rated 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. We averaged 18.7 mpg during a week of mixed driving. Combined with the XF’s 18.4-gallon fuel tank, this actual fuel economy figure results in an approximate 345-mile range between fill-ups of premium unleaded.

Safety – Neither the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has crash tested the Jaguar XF, so ratings are unavailable.

Environment – According to the EPA, the 2010 Jaguar XF consumes 18 barrels of petroleum annually when equipped with the 4.2-liter or 5.0-liter V-8, and 20.1 barrels of petroleum annually when equipped with the supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. This results in carbon footprint ratings of 9.6 tons per year for the non-supercharged models, and 10.8 tons per year for the supercharged models. Air pollution scores were not available at the time this review was published.

Note: This review was published on December 11, 2009. It may not reflect data that has become available for this vehicle since that date.

All 18 satellite pre-sets default to "weather." Jaguar says that this is a software issue. They have been entirely non-responsive regarding fixing this.
