Why We Drove It: The Volkswagen Routan is one of the most fuel efficient vehicles in its class.
Did You Know…
•The Volkswagen Routan is based on the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan, powered by Chrysler engines and transmissions, and built in the same Windsor, Ontario assembly plant.
•Volkswagen modified almost all exterior body panels, upgraded the interior trim, and tuned the steering and suspension to give the donor vehicle a premium look and feel.
•The first- and second-row seats are exclusive to Volkswagen, but this means that the handy Stow N’ Go feature found on the Chrysler and Dodge is not offered on the Routan.
•The Routan SE and SEL are equipped with integrated rear window sunshades for the second- and third-row seats.
•The Volkswagen Routan is equipped with 13 cupholders.
•The Volkswagen Routan has two large storage wells located under the floor just behind the front seats.
•The onboard entertainment system offered on the Routan SE and SEL comes with dual rear screens, one for the second-row passengers and one for the third-row passengers.
•On the Routan SEL, Volkswagen offers a USB-compatible 30-gigabyte entertainment hard drive that can store music and photos.
•With the third-row seat folded into the floor and the second-row bucket seats removed, the Volkswagen Routan can hold 144 cubic feet of cargo.
•The Routan is available with a 115-volt power outlet for charging cell phones and powering video game consoles, among other uses.
•The Volkswagen Routan can tow up to 3,500 pounds, when properly equipped.
•Volkswagen says the Routan S and SE can accelerate to 60 mph in 10.2 seconds, while the Routan SEL gets to 60 mph in 8.9 seconds. All Routans have a top speed of 112 mph.
•A loaded Volkswagen Routan SEL can cost more than $44,000.
•Nocturne Black, Blonde Maple, and Atlantis Blue paint colors are offered only on the Routan SE and SEL.
•The Volkswagen Routan is covered by the company’s Carefree Maintenance Program, which gives buyers free scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 36,000 miles.

i just purchased VW Routan and very satisfied and the fact that it is their first minivan...well done. I'd place #3 after Siena and Odessy though i think it may well be no.2 it is a smoother rider then odessy and interior is much more comfortable the only thing IT JUST HIT THE STREETS so give it a little to prove itself
