Did You Know…

•The first Mini was shown to the public in August of 1959, and remained in production until 2000. Approximately 5.4 million copies of the original Mini were produced.

•Today, BMW can produce 260,000 Minis annually, with final assembly occurring in Oxford, United Kingdom.
•When BMW launched the Mini Cooper for 2001, global sales were anticipated to be 100,000 units. By 2005, that had doubled.
•Only 5 percent of the parts in our Mini Cooper S JCW test vehicle were sourced from the U.S. or Canada.
•The Mini Cooper Hardtop offers 5.2 cubic feet of trunk space with the rear seat raised, and 24 cubic feet with the rear seats folded in half.
•The Mini Cooper hardtop is rated to carry 816 pounds of payload, including the passengers.
•A Mini Cooper Hardtop with the optional 6-speed automatic transmission takes 9.7 seconds to accelerate to 60 mph, and has a top speed of 121 mph.
•A Mini Cooper S JCW Hardtop will accelerate to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds on the way to a top speed of 147 mph, according to Mini.
•When the Cooper S JCW’s “Overboost” system is engaged, torque briefly peaks at 207 lb.-ft. rather than the stated peak of 192 lb.-ft.
•The Mini Cooper comes standard with Hill Start Assist, which holds brake pressure for 3 seconds while the driver releases the clutch and engages first gear. The system prevents the car from rolling backwards.
•Every Mini Cooper has standard run-flat tires that can go up to 90 miles at speeds up to 50 mph.
•If a Mini Cooper is involved in a serious accident, the fuel pump automatically shuts off, the central power door locks unlock themselves, and the flashers activate.
•The optional leather offered in the Mini Cooper is hand-sewn.
•When a buyer selects the optional navigation system, it replaces the giant centrally-located speedometer in the Mini’s dashboard.
•If you want to connect your iPod to a Mini, it requires an optional USB-enabled adapter.
•John Cooper Works accessories can be added to a Mini Cooper S, but the result is not as powerful or complete a package as ordering the Mini Cooper S JCW.
•Mini offers a variety of roof and body graphics to personalize the Cooper. The famous Barack Obama “Hope” poster by Shepard Fairey is not one of them.
