Why We Drove It: The 2008 Subaru Impreza (and the WRX models based upon it) ranked #2 among compact sporty cars in the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Initial Quality Study. The 2008 Subaru Impreza is also called a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, based on its performance in offset-, side-, and rear-impact crash testing.

• Nearly every major mechanical system in the Impreza WRX STI is unique to this model.
• The WRX STI comes standard with fog light insert covers; fog lights are included when the optional BBS forged aluminum wheels are ordered.
• A “cannon mount” design is used for the WRX STI’s steering rack to improve rigidity and quicken steering response.
• The WRX STI’s crankshaft is nitride hardened for strength and durability.
