The Ford Edge is a mid-size crossover SUV that is brand-new for the 2007 model year. Designed to compete against segment-defining crossover SUVs from Nissan and Toyota, the Edge is available with front- or all-wheel drive, can carry up to 5 passengers or as much as 69 cubic feet of cargo, and can tow up to 3500 pounds. A third-row seat is not available on the Edge. The Edge shares its platform and powertrain with the Lincoln MKX, and serves as the foundation upon which the Mazda CX-9 is built.

The 2007 Ford Edge is available in SE and SEL trim levels with front- or all-wheel drive. The SEL model includes fog lights, a six-way power driver’s seat, illuminated visor mirrors, an upgraded audio system with a six-disc CD changer and steering wheel controls, and a message center with a compass. Choosing SEL trim is also the pathway to additional options like 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated leather seats, a premium Audiophile sound system, a navigation system, a rear seat DVD entertainment system, a reverse sensing system, and a panoramic Vista Roof.

The 2007 Ford Edge is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine. This engine makes 265 horsepower at 6250 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. of torque at 4500 rpm and is connected to a six-speed automatic that drives the front or all four wheels.

Standard safety features on the 2007 Ford Edge include six airbags with side curtains that include rollover protection, stability and traction control, and antilock brakes. The Edge SEL is available with a reverse sensing system to help detect objects that are behind the vehicle but cannot be seen while backing up.

J.D. Power and Associates says the 2007 Ford Edge competes against other mid-size multi-activity vehicles like the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Murano, and Toyota Highlander.
