What's New

With sales that began in February 2006, Mercedes launched the all-new and ninth generation of its flagship S-Class sedan. In addition to being larger than its predecessor, the new S-Class shows more expressive styling. Flared wheel arches promise more than an elegantly smooth ride, and S-Class delivers with engines rated at 382, 510, and 604 hp. The car that Mercedes claims defines the premium luxury sedan segment also offers new technologies, including an industry-first seven-speed automatic transmission and Night View, which shows the driver objects beyond headlamp range.

Reviews

Mercedes is the world’s oldest automaker. For much of its 120-year history, the S-Class has been its flagship, showcasing technology, performance, and luxury. Mercedes says the S-Class was the first car with anti-lock brakes (in 1978), with a supplemental restraint system that included air bags (1982), with Electronic Stability technology (vehicle dynamics control, 1996), and with PRE-SAFE, a system that automatically prepares vehicle safety features when an accident is imminent (2002). While the various electronic systems may have distinctive technical names such as Distronic, they use advanced sensors, including radar, to warn of dangerous situations, to maintain the distance between your car and the one ahead on the highway, and even to help the driver back into a parallel parking space.

While it's arguably the most technologically advanced sedan on the planet, the all-new ninth-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class remains the embodiment of traditional luxury. In a vehicle that boasts sophisticated innovations like stop-and-go cruise control and infrared night vision, the passenger cabin is dominated not by buttons, knobs and switches, but by wood, leather and a palpable air of richness.
