The last vestiges of BMW's short reign over Land Rover are banished this year with the introduction of two Jaguar-derived V8 engines replacing previous powerplants. The HSE model now comes with a 4.4-liter V8 that pumps out 305 horsepower, while the new Supercharged features a supercharged 4.2-liter V8 good for a whopping 400 horsepower. Now in its third year of production, the Range Rover continues to be viewed as one of the world's most luxurious SUVs and is held in high esteem from Rome to Rodeo Drive. Thanks to the relatively high income of its core customers, the Range Rover is not likely to see sales suffer in the face of soaring fuel prices, a fact that leaves many of its competitors green with envy.
