Demonstrating a near-perfect marriage of hybrid technology and mouth-watering enthusiast performance, Porsche rolls out its 78-mpg 918 Spyder Concept. Mid-mounted in the Boxster-size 2-seater is a 3.4-liter V-8 gasoline engine assisted by two additional axle-mounted electric motors. Total output is 500 horsepower—enough to propel the Porsche to 60 mph in a claimed 3.2 seconds towards a top speed of 189 mph.
