Audi’s latest concept is based on its new compact A1 hatchback. Under the hood of the ultra-efficient hybrid is a small Wankel rotary engine—chosen for its compact and lightweight properties—designed to deliver a steady flow of electricity to the 12-kilowatt lithium-ion battery pack. The batteries are tasked with powering a 102-horsepower electric motor sending power to the front wheels. According to Audi, the A1 e-tron delivers 124 MPG.
