2009 Jeep Commander
Headlining 2009 news for the Jeep Commander is the next generation of the reborn 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine. Horsepower increases from 330 to 357, and torque is up from 375 to 389 lb.-ft. Jeep says the new Hemi also gets better fuel economy. In other news, the Commander is now offered with auto-leveling high-intensity discharge headlights, new wheel options, and a Leather Appearance package that includes a leather wrap on the upper front and rear door bolsters, center console lid, and front door grab handles, as well as chrome rings around the instrument panel face vents, and a modified 2-piece shift knob. Map pockets are also added to the available leather seats, and the available rear DVD entertainment system gets a 9-inch screen (up from 8 inches). Like other Jeep products, the MyGIG hard-drive radio changes its name to UConnect Tunes and UConnect GPS when ordered with a navigation system. The hard drive also grows from 20 to 30 gigabytes of memory.
