Design
The Chevy Orlando’s design is based on the recently announced 2011 Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan, but the look is truly distinctive, with a more defined contrast between the windshield and hood lines. The Orlando concept sports flared fenders and it poses a muscular stance that makes it look much like an SUV. Chevy designed the vehicle to offer dynamic ride and handling qualities, but also provide easy access to the interior and outstanding fuel economy.

On the inside, the innovative Orlando has family needs in mind, with adaptable, theater-style, 7-passenger seating in three rows. According to Chevy, whenever load-carrying becomes a priority, the Orlando’s fold-flat rear seats transform the cabin into a large cargo area. With its 108.6-inch wheelbase, coupled with wide front and rear tracks, and hinged side doors, the Orlando has plenty of interior room.

Hardware
If it reaches production, the Orlando would be powered by a 150-hp, 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine that delivers 235 lb.-ft. of torque in overseas markets (Chevrolet has not yet announced whether the diesel, or the vehicle itself, would be offered in North America). With useful torque available across the power band, Chevrolet says the Orlando’s small-displacement 4-cylinder engine combines surprising performance with excellent fuel economy. Also, Chevy notes the Orlando’s architecture is car-based, a hallmark of a true crossover, according to the automaker. The Orlando concept also features speed-sensitive electric power steering.
