The 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is offered with two different engines. The standard engine in the Turbo 2.0T model is an all-aluminum, 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. It is rated at 210 hp and 223 lb.-ft. of torque. The turbocharged model is offered with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission. According to Hyundai, the 2.0T model will reach an electronically-limited 137 mph. It earns EPA fuel-economy estimates of 20 mpg city and 29 mpg highway (with the automatic transmission). The V-6 model features a more powerful 3.8-liter 6-cylinder engine rated at 306 hp and 266 lb.-ft of torque good for a 0-60 mph sprint in less than 6 seconds with a top speed limited to 149 mph. The V-6 model is fitted with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission. According to EPA estimates, the V-6 model with the automatic transmission earns fuel-economy ratings of 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

All 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe models are rear-wheel drive (RWD) with a sport-tuned MacPherson strut dual-link front suspension and 5-link design rear suspension. The steering is hydraulically assisted rack-and-pinion with engine-speed-sensitive variable assist. The standard brake package includes single-piston calipers clamping disc brakes at all four corners. Wheels on the standard models are 18 inches in diameter with all-season tires. The Track model mechanical upgrades include a sport-tuned suspension, 4-piston Brembo calipers on larger disc brakes, wider 19-inch wheels with performance-oriented tires, and a limited-slip differential.
