2009 Toyota Sienna
Launched in 1998 to replace the Toyota Previa, the Toyota Sienna minivan is now in its second generation (last redesigned in 2004). The front- or 4-wheel-drive minivan offers 8-passenger seating and a standard 3.5-liter V-6 powerplant. All feature the same 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive that earns fuel economy ratings of 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway in EPA testing. In our 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, designed to measure consumer delight with the design, content, layout and performance of their new vehicles, the Toyota Sienna ranked highest in its segment. The minivan fared well in crash testing, earning “5-star” crash test scores from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and receiving a “Top Safety Pick” accolade from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). For the 2009 model year, Toyota changed the headrests and some interior trim and also made changes within the trim levels to include new wheels, parking sensors, and rear-seat entertainment system choices.
