2009 Honda Odyssey
After more than a decade on the market, the Honda Odyssey continues to set minivan benchmarks with its consumer-friendly utility, fuel efficient powertrain, and 8-passenger capability. The current model is now in its third generation. All versions are offered with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels (there is no AWD version). The EX-L and Touring models feature variable cylinder management, helping them earn ratings of 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway in EPA testing. Confirming that owners are happy with the design, content, layout and performance of their Odysseys, the minivan ranked highest in its segment in our 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study. In crash testing, the Honda Odyssey earned “5-star” crash test scores from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a “Top Safety Pick” rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). After a mild facelift in 2008, the Honda Odyssey remains unchanged for 2009.
