2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Completely redesigned for 2008, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is the smallest sedan offering in the German automaker’s lineup. Like its similar-sized competition from the BMW 3 Series, Lexus IS, and Audi A4, the C-Class is offered with a choice of 6- or 8-cylinder engines. All C-Class models are rear-wheel drive and are equipped with a long list of standard convenience and luxury features. While the standard models are enjoyable to drive, enthusiasts will prefer the C63 AMG—a powerful and highly-tuned model with a firm suspension and an upgraded interior. According to the EPA, the C-Class earned fuel economy ratings of 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway (C300 with automatic transmission). Owners have been very pleased with the design, content, layout and performance of their C-Class vehicles. As a testament, the small Mercedes-Benz earned a top-three ranking in its segment in our 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study. All-new just last year, the 2009 C-Class is mostly a carryover from the 2008 model year.
