2009 Scion tC
When the Scion tC arrived in 2005, it was rather conventional in appearance when compared to its boxy sibling, the Scion xB. Now in its fifth year, the Scion tC 2-door coupe features a standard 2.4-liter engine with a 5-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. For those consumers looking for an automatic transmission, a 4-speed electronically controlled version is optional. With the automatic, the Scion tC earned fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway in EPA testing. The suspension is an independent MacPherson strut design up front, and an independent double-wishbone arrangement in the rear. The brakes are front disc/rear drum with standard anti-lock control. The audience targeted by the Scion tC seems very pleased with their purchase. In our 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, which measures consumer delight with the design, content, layout and performance of their new vehicles, the positive responses ranked the Scion tC among the top three models in its segment. Following a refresh for the 2008 model year, Scion offers new upgraded interior fabrics for 2009.
