2009 Mazda CX-9
New for 2007, the CX-9 is the largest model in Mazda’s U.S. lineup. Built on the same platform as the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX, the 4-door CX-9 offers seating for up to 7 passengers within its cabin. The Mazda is available in three different models: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. All share an identical 3.7-liter V-6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The standard powertrain is front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive optional on all models. The Mazda CX-9 earned EPA fuel economy numbers of 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. In our 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, recognizing owner delight with the design, content, layout and performance of their new vehicles, the Mazda CX-9 ranked among the top three models in its segment. In addition, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) rated the CX-9 with “5-star” crash test scores during its testing. After receiving a new, more powerful engine for 2008, the CX-9 remains unchanged for the 2009 model year.
