2009 Audi
A6
The direct descendant of the early Audi 100 sedan, the Audi A6 arrived
in 1994. Now in its third generation, the midsized luxury sedan is
available in many different configurations, including a wagon body
style. The standard model is front-wheel drive with a 3.2-liter V-6
engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission (EPA fuel economy ratings
of 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway). It is also available with Audi’s
quattro permanent all-wheel drive. The upgraded model features a
4.2-liter V-8 engine with a standard quattro driveline. The
ultra-high-performance model is known as the S6. It features a powerful
race-bred V-10 engine with sport suspension and other performance
enhancements. In our 2008 Initial Quality Study (IQS), the industry
benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days, the Audi A6
ranked among the top three models in its segment. It also landed a
top-three ranking in our 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and
Layout (APEAL) Study, which spotlights those models whose owners were
delighted with the design, content, layout and performance of their
automobiles. In terms of crashworthiness, the Audi A6 was named a “Top
Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). For
2009, Audi
treats the A6 lineup to a facelift and upgraded the MMI infotainment
interface.
