2009 Ford Fusion
All-new in 2006, the 5-passenger midsize Fusion sedan offers consumers the choice between front- and all-wheel drive and 4- or 6-cylinder power. In standard trim (front-wheel drive with the 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine) the EPA fuel economy estimates for the Fusion are 20 mpg city, and 28 mpg highway. The Fusion competes directly with the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, and in our firm’s 2008 Initial Quality Study (IQS), which reports the number of manufacturing and design defects during the first 90 days of ownership, the Ford Fusion ranked among the top three models in its segment. Ford has added electronic traction control and a new appearance package for 2009, in advance of a restyling for 2010 that will include a new hybrid model.
