On sale since 2007, the GL-Class is the largest SUV offered by Mercedes-Benz. The 4-door features 3 rows of seating for up to 7 passengers. With standard all-wheel drive, and a choice of three different engines (a 6-cylinder diesel, and two different 8-cylinder powerplants) the GL-Class offers plenty of utility. Buyers expect luxury from Mercedes, and the GL-Class delivers it with a well-appointed cabin and a long list of standard amenities. Consumers have been pleased with the big Mercedes. In our 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, designed to measure owner delight with the design, content, layout and performance of their new vehicle during the first 90 days of ownership, the GL-Class ranked among the top three models in its segment. With the standard gasoline engine, the GL450 earns EPA fuel economy estimates of 13 mpg city and 18 mpg highway. Mercedes has kept the 2009 model mostly unchanged for the new year.
