2009 Land Rover Range Rover
In production since 1970, the Land Rover Range Rover is likely England’s most famous SUV. Now in its third generation, the Range Rover is sold in two different versions: Range Rover HSE and Range Rover Supercharged. Both utilize a Jaguar-sourced V-8 engine and permanent all-wheel drive. The Supercharged model is fitted with a supercharged 4.2-liter engine rated at 400 hp, larger 20-inch wheels, and minor cosmetic changes. In EPA testing, the Range Rover HSE, with its 305-hp V-8 engine, earned fuel economy figures of 12 mpg city and 18 mpg highway. Known for its exceptional off-road capabilities, the Range Rover lineup is suited just as well for highway duty with standard DVD-based navigation and a spacious cabin lined with leather and wood trim. Our 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study measured owner delight with the design, content, layout and performance of their new vehicles and the Land Rover Range Rover ranked highest in its segment. For 2009, the Range Rover received only minor updates.
