2009 Lexus LS
Aimed squarely at the European luxury market at its debut in 1990, the flagship Lexus LS broke new ground in terms of styling, design and refinement. Nearly twenty years later, the luxurious Lexus LS 460 continues to build upon the award-winning initiative started by its predecessor two decades ago. A traditional rear- or all-wheel-drive sedan with seating for up to 5 passengers, the Lexus LS 460 is available in standard or long-wheelbase models and with either 8-cylinder (EPA 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway) or hybrid (EPA 20 mpg city/22 mpg highway) powerplants. Acknowledging customer satisfaction with the design, layout, content and performance of the Lexus LS 460, the model was ranked among the top three in its segment in the 2008 J.D. Power and Associates Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study. The full-size Lexus also ranked highest in its segment in the 2008 Initial Quality Study (IQS), an industry benchmark measuring new-vehicle quality at 90 days. Consumers reported such a low number of problems with their 3-year-old Lexus LS 430s in our 2008 Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) that this predecessor to the LS 460 ranked highest in its segment. For 2009, Lexus has added memory controls for the front passenger seat to all LS models.
