2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
One of the highest-volume selling models in the United States, the Chevrolet Silverado is available in many different configurations. These include regular, extended, and crew cabs with up to 4 doors. There are seven engine choices with 6- or 8-cylinder power. The base engine is a 4.3-liter V-6 and is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission (the EPA fuel economy ratings are 15 mpg city and 20 mpg highway). The Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid uses a 6.0-liter V-8 gas engine with an electronically variable transmission and an electric motor powered by a 300-volt battery to achieve 21 mpg city and 22 mpg highway. In our 2008 Initial Quality Study (IQS), the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership, the Chevrolet Silverado ranked highest in its segment. It also earned “5-star” crash test scores from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in government testing. The Chevrolet Silverado receives a new 6-speed automatic transmission for 2009. In addition, a 6.2-liter V-8 engine is now available on Crew Cab models. Other changes include 18- and 20-inch optional chromed wheels, updated OnStar, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and XM satellite radio with NavTraffic. Several new options for 2009 include remote start, rear parking assist, and an AutoTrac active transfer case. New colors have also been added to the options list.
