2008 Porsche 911
The Porsche 911 is unique among sports cars in that its engine is mounted behind the rear wheels. In the 1960s, when the 911 arrived on the scene, this arrangement made the car both challenging and rewarding to drive. Today, a significantly revised suspension and sophisticated electronics have tamed the 911. With a powerful 6-cylinder engine, and automatic transmission, the 911 Carrera (rear-wheel drive) is rated at 18 mpg city/24 mpg highway by the EPA. In the 2007 IQS, the Porsche 911 ranked among the top three models in its segment. The standard Porsche 911 is a carryover from 2007, although Porsche did add two new powerful 911 models to the lineup.
