For 2006, Volvo discontinues the T6 version of the XC90, making the 2.5T the new “base” version. The XC90 2.5T receives several changes for 2006, including All-Wheel Drive with Instant Traction as a new option—the same advanced all-wheel-drive system employed in the V8 model. Two new exterior hues include Lunar Gold and Willow Green.
Volvo’s XC90 sport utility is available in two trims for 2006: the 2.5T and V8. Powering the 2.5T is a 208-hp, light-pressure turbocharged inline-five-cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed automatic with Geartronic manual-shift capability. The 2.5T is available either in front-wheel- or all-wheel-drive configurations.
Volvo's take on the SUV, the XC90, combines the ride height and off-road ability of a rugged 4x4 with the luxury and safety for which Volvos are famous. The XC90 also delivers an exceptional ride and outstanding handling, all packaged in a stylish and sophisticated design that blends elegance with rugged individuality.
