Volvo offers two station wagons in its 2008 lineup. With the V70 capturing those looking for a full-size wagon, consumers who prefer a midsize are directed at the smaller of the two: the V50. First sold to North American customers in 2005, the V50 traces its history back to the V40, introduced nearly a decade ago. That early wagon was based on the sedan version of the Volvo S40. Likewise, with a different designation, the 2008 V50 is based on the current
S40 model sedan. V50 chassis, engines and drivelines are all shared with the S40. For 2008, Volvo’s V50 Sportswagen has been given a comprehensive update including new exterior and interior styling, enhanced storage and versatility, and additional safety features.
