The Nissan Murano is a midsize crossover SUV with sport and luxury features. A 5-seater that shares a platform with the Altima sedan, it’s nearly unchanged for the 2010 model year, following a 2009 redesign. The Murano’s main competitors include the Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, GMC Terrain, Dodge Journey, and Ford Flex.

All three of the 2010 Nissan Murano’s trim levels are available with front- or all-wheel drive. The base trim (Murano S) features 18-inch wheels, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, reclining rear seats, and a 6-speaker sound system. The Murano SL trim adds power to the driver’s seat and rear seatbacks, a leather-covered steering wheel with audio controls, fog lights, roof rails, an optional panoramic sunroof, and several option packages. The Premium package upgrades the audio/visual equipment. The Technology package includes premium headlights and wipers, power mirrors and a power liftgate, plus Bluetooth connectivity. The Leather package upgrades the seats. The premium Murano LE trim includes all the SL’s options and adds 20-inch wheels, heated rear seats, and an iPod interface. Optional on both the Murano SL and the Murano LE are an upgraded technology package that includes a hard-drive-based navigation system, and a rear entertainment system.

With the rear seatbacks folded down, the Murano provides 64 cubic feet of cargo space, and with the proper equipment, it can tow up to 3500 pounds, according to Nissan.

The standard power plant in the 2010 Nissan Murano is a 265-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine mated to a continuously variable transmission. According to the EPA, this combination delivers 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

Standard safety features on the 2010 Nissan Murano include anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, stability control, traction control, active front head restraints, front side air bags, and side curtain air bags.

Starting MSRPs for the 2010 Nissan Murano ranged from $28,340 to $38,710.
