The Frontier is Nissan’s small pickup truck. It’s available as a 2-door, 4-seat King Cab (extended cab) or a 4-door, 5-seat Crew Cab, and with a standard (59.5-inch, 27.1-cubic-foot) or long (73.3-inch, 33.5-cubic-foot) pickup bed. The long bed is standard with the King Cab, and optional with the Crew Cab. The Nissan Frontier is available in rear- (2WD) or 4-wheel drive (4WD).
The entry-level model, Frontier XE, is available only as a King Cab, and features 15-inch steel wheels and cloth upholstery. Air conditioning and a basic sound system are optional. Succeeding trim levels—SE, LE and PRO-4X—are available for both the King and the Crew Cab, and progressively add standard features. At the top of the line, standard equipment on the PRO-4X includes 16-inch alloy wheels, locking rear differential, and other features that are conducive to better off-road performance. The LE trim lacks the off-road enhancements, but features 18-inch alloy wheels, power driver’s seat, and fancier exterior trim. Many option packages are available, especially for the PRO-4X and LE trims, and can include leather upholstery, heated front seats, premium sound system, sunroof (Crew Cab only), portable navigation system, and much more.
The 2010 Nissan Frontier XE and SE models feature a 152-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 5-speed manual transmission (a 5-speed automatic transmission is optional), and rear-wheel drive. This drivetrain delivers 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. Frontier PRO-4X and LE models feature a 261-horsepower, 4.0-liter V-6 engine with either a 6-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic transmission and 2WD or 4WD. (This larger engine is also available as an option with the SE trim.) With 2WD and manual transmission, the 2010 Nissan Frontier delivers 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
