The GL-Class is Mercedes-Benz’s large crossover SUV: a 7-passenger luxury vehicle available with gasoline or diesel power. Introduced in 2006, it’s a front-engine, 4-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle that competes with the Audi Q7, Land Rover Range Rover, and the Lincoln Navigator, among others.
Three models of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class are available, each with a different engine. Maximum cargo capacity is 83.3 cubic feet, according to Mercedes. When properly equipped, the 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL-class can tow up to 7500 pounds, the automaker says.
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL350 Bluetec employs a 210-horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine that’s legal in all 50 states. It produces 400 lb.-ft. of torque, and delivers 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. The GL450’s 335-horsepower, 4.7-liter V-8 engine runs on gasoline and delivers 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. The GL550 features a 382-horsepower, 5.5-liter V-8 engine that makes 391 lb. ft. of torque and delivers 12 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. All 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class models use a 7-speed automatic transmission.
