The M35 and M45 sedans get new and upgraded standard and optional features for 2007, including changes to the Technology and Journey option packages, a 5.1-channel Bose surround audio system as part of the Advanced Technology package, active cruise control to maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and more.

Overview
The Infiniti M-Series launched as a 2006 model in calendar year 2005. The M35 and M45 sedans are Infiniti’s largest cars; both are fullsize, 5-passenger sedans. There are rear- and all-wheel-drive versions, as well as special luxury and sport packages. The M35 is propelled by a 275-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine while the M45 draws on a 325-hp, 4.5-liter V-8. Both engines are attached to 5-speed automatic transmissions. Vehicle dynamic control, anti-lock brakes, and other vehicle technologies are part of the package. And while many would consider the M sedans to have very athletic response, special Sport models are available with an active rear steering system that enhances dynamic capabilities.

Standard equipment includes a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, push-button ignition, an in-dash 6-CD changer with MP3 playback capability, a 7-inch vehicle information screen, 10-way power driver’s and front passenger’s seats, leather upholstery, a power-sliding sunroof, and side curtain air bags. Sport models have 19-inch wheels and tires, a sport-tuned suspension, xenon headlamps, climate-controlled front sport seats, and aluminum interior trim.

The options list includes Infiniti’s lane departure warning system that recognizes lane markings, while factoring in distance and speed, and generates an audible warning when it detects an unintended lane departure. Activating a turn signal turns off the system.

The Competition
The Infiniti M-Series competes in the Midsize Premium Conventional segment, which consists of 12 models. Buyers in this segment look for quality, performance, and reliability, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2006 Avoider Study^SM and the Escaped Shopper Study.^SM

The top sellers in the segment during calendar year 2006, according to the J.D. Power and Associates Sales Report,^SM were the Lexus ES Series (75,987 units sold), BMW 5 Series (56,756), and Mercedes-Benz E-Class (50,195). The Infiniti M-Series sold 25,658 units in 2006, an increase of 6.9 percent compared to the previous year. Other models offered in the Midsize Premium Conventional segment include the Lexus GS Series, Cadillac STS, Volvo V70, Audi A6, and Acura RL.
